Senior Operator – Fort St. John, BC
Aquatech Canadian Water Services is a privately held Canadian corporation established in 2004, specializing in the management, operations, and maintenance of Water and Wastewater facilities across Canada. We are currently seeking a Senior Operator for a full-time leadership role based in the Fort St. John, B.C. area.
This position is ideal for an experienced Water & Wastewater Treatment professional who is ready to take on increased responsibility, provide operational leadership, and support site supervision while maintaining hands-on involvement in plant operations.
Qualifications:
- Minimum level I Water Treatment Certification and/or level 2 Wastewater Treatment and Collection systems certifications or a combination of the latter (higher certifications considered an asset)
- Minimum five (3-5) years of progressive experience in water/wastewater operations
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with a clean driver’s abstract
- Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience preferred
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Self-motivated, dependable, and team-oriented
- All safety training certifications are either recognized as an asset or will be fully provided, including Confined Space, First Aid, Fall Arrest, TDG, and H2S alive
- Candidates must be living in the Fort St. John area or willing to relocate (compensation available)
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and guidance to operations staff in the safe and efficient operation of facilities
- Operate & maintain 5 Level I Water Treatment membranes Plants & bulk loading distribution systems
- Oversee operations of a Level II Wastewater Treatment Plant and Collection System
- Support scheduling, training, and performance oversight of plant operators
- Ensure compliance with provincial regulations, approvals, and reporting requirements
- Compile and review operational data, reports, and documentation for regulatory authorities and clients
- Perform process monitoring, interpretation, and optimization adjustments
- Conduct sampling and laboratory analysis
- Calibrate laboratory equipment and online instrumentation
- Troubleshoot process alarms and respond to operational emergencies
- Complete preventative and corrective maintenance on chemical injection systems and related equipment
- Contribute to a safe, clean, and professional work environment
- Janitorial duties and groundskeeping included
- Coordinate with contractors and external service providers as required
- Maintain positive working relationships with clients, regulators, and the public
- Participate in on-call rotation (candidates must live in the Fort St. john area)
- Operate a company 4×4 vehicle for site rounds and callouts
- Promote and uphold Aquatech’s professional standards and safety culture
