Water Treatment – Level 2 @ Vernon - MTS Training Center

Description:

This is a 5 day intermediate level course covering all core areas including: detailed treatment processes and systems, emerging technologies, mathematics and complex chlorine and chemical problem solving involving flow and filtration rates and, enhanced safety components. Troubleshooting tips, maintenance details, introductory management practices, and a thorough review of WT Level I is also undertaken in this course.

** Note: Environmental Operator Certification Program Certification Exams require separate application online and are to be completed through the EOCP Customer Relationship Management System at https://crm.eocp.ca/  and to be submitted no later than 16 business days prior to the posted date of the scheduled exam.

Backflow Assembly Tester Certification @ Vernon - MTS Training Center

Description:

This 5-day program covers aspects of cross connection controls and backflow preventer assembly testing as published in the AWWA Canadian Cross Connection Control 2007 Manual published by the Western Canada Section American Water Works Association (WCS AWWA) and is followed by the BCWWA Backflow Assembly Testers Certification. Agenda items include:

Introduction to Cross Connection Control

  • Causes of backflow
  • Health aspects
  • Backflow incidents review
  • Legal aspects
  • Hazard classifications and types of hazards
  • Methods of backflow control (types of backflow preventers)
  • General installation requirements
  • Cross connection control program basics
  • Troubleshooting and repair of backflow preventers
  • Theoretical and practical testing procedures for:
    • Reduced Pressure Principle Backflow Preventer
    • Double Check Valve Assembly

Waste Water Collection Level I-II @ Chilliwack, BC

Description:

This 4.5 day course provides the fundamentals for operating and maintaining collection systems efficiently and effectively. Also included are the basics of chemistry, biology, hydraulics and math for waste water collections operators. This also serves as a prep course for the EOCP certification exam for waste water collections level I and II. Topics Include:

1) Wastewater Collection Systems – Learn the different wastewater collection systems and characteristics

2) Lift Stations – Understanding what lift stations are and their roll in wastewater collection

3) Hydraulics & Mathematics concepts for Wastewater Collections – Grasp the mathematical & hydraulic concepts that pertain to wastewater

4) Operation and Maintenance of Equipment – Understanding the basics and importance of pumps, electricity and cleaning

5) Basic Biology and Chemistry for Wastewater Collections – Learn the basic biology and chemistry that is used in wastewater collection

6) Inspecting and Testing Collection Systems – To gain the knowledge about the different procedures for inspecting and testing collection systems

Description:

This 5 day course offers an advanced level operator with the opportunity to prepare for certification in water treatment Level III or IV, focusing on the practical aspects of plant operations. Recommended for operators who maintain a facility classified as a WT III or higher.
