Description:

This is a 5 day intermediate level course covering all core areas including: detailed treatment processes and systems, emerging technologies, mathematics and complex chlorine and chemical problem solving involving flow and filtration rates and, enhanced safety components. Troubleshooting tips, maintenance details, introductory management practices, and a thorough review of WT Level I is also undertaken in this course.

This 5-day program covers aspects of cross connection controls and backflow preventer assembly testing as published in the AWWA Canadian Cross Connection Control 2007 Manual published by the Western Canada Section American Water Works Association (WCS AWWA) and is followed by the BCWWA Backflow Assembly Testers Certification. Agenda items include:

  • Hazard classifications and types of hazards

This 4.5 day course provides the fundamentals for operating and maintaining collection systems efficiently and effectively. Also included are the basics of chemistry, biology, hydraulics and math for waste water collections operators. This also serves as a prep course for the EOCP certification exam for waste water collections level I and II. Topics Include:

1) Wastewater Collection Systems – Learn the different wastewater collection systems and characteristics

2) Lift Stations – Understanding what lift stations are and their roll in wastewater collection

3) Hydraulics & Mathematics concepts for Wastewater Collections – Grasp the mathematical & hydraulic concepts that pertain to wastewater

4) Operation and Maintenance of Equipment – Understanding the basics and importance of pumps, electricity and cleaning

5) Basic Biology and Chemistry for Wastewater Collections – Learn the basic biology and chemistry that is used in wastewater collection

This 1 day course will provide an understanding of electrical components of sewage lift stations, to be familiar with electrical safety requirements and safe working procedures. Outlining: operational aspects so that operators are familiar with basic operational checks and emergency procedures, and maintenance aspects so operators are familiar with typical maintenance programs designed to keep pump stations operating.

Recertification for Backflow Assembly Testers @ Vernon - MTS Training Center

Description:

Beginning in 2010, BCWWA requires all certified Backflow Assembly Testers to recertify every 5 years. This Recertification program meets the requirements of the BCWWA and provides existing certified testers the opportunity to ensure that are up to date with the latest testing procedures and current reference materials such as AWWA Canadian Cross Connection test requirements, plumbing code and local bylaw changes. This 10 hour course includes:

Current Test Procedure review

  • RP
  • DCVA
  • PVB
  • SRPVB
  • New forms, common errors

Summary of applicable standards as of the date of the course delivery

  • CSA
  • Canadian Cross Connection Manual
  • Plumbing Code (building code)
  • Current AWWA Canadian CCC tester certification policies
  • Local bylaws

This course is followed by a BCWWA Tester Recertification examination session which includes the practical and written examination.

The exam typically starts at Noon on the last day.
